MADISON ARAIZA

Araiza is a movement artist, choreographer, and educator based in Houston, Texas. She began  her dance training in Sugar Land with her very first teacher, Jana Brown, at Enrich (formerly  Jana Brown Center Stage), whose mentorship shaped her deeply as both a dancer and an  artist. Araiza is immensely proud to have grown up in Jana’s studio and remains thankful for the  foundation and values instilled in her there. It was also through Jana that she was introduced to  inspiring choreographers such as Lauren Alvarez and Meghan Way Stinson, who further  influenced her early development and love for contemporary dance.

After graduating high school, Araiza attended The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she  earned her BFA in Contemporary Dance. During her time there, she trained in a wide range of  techniques including Gaga with Mario Zambrano, Countertechnique with Joy Davis, and Limón  with Kurt Douglas. She had the privilege of working with artists such as Zoe Scofield, Stephanie  Martinez, Uri Sands, and Jon Oléstad.

Her continued professional development includes intensives and programs at Hubbard Street  Dance Chicago, Northwest Dance Project, Henry Jurriaens in Amsterdam, and SALT’s LINK  program in Salt Lake City. Through these programs, she explored the repertory of influential  choreographers such as Nacho Duato, Hofesh Shechter, Jirí Kylián, Ohad Naharin, and Crystal  Pite, while also creating new work with emerging contemporary voices like Omar Román De  Jesús and Ihsan Rustem.

In 2022, Araiza relocated to Vancouver, BC to join Lamondance as a company member for their  14th season under the direction of Davi Rodrigues. There, she collaborated with  choreographers including Nicolas Ventura, Cristina Bucci, Jera Wolfe, Margarida Macieira, and  Alex Neoral.

After returning to Houston, Araiza worked throughout the local dance scene performing with  Aufheben Dance Ensemble, Houston Contemporary Dance Company, and internationally  recognized choreographer and dancer Robbie Moore.

Since 2020, Araiza has taught in both Houston and Vancouver, working with competitive and  pre-professional dancers across a wide range of ages and styles. Transitioning from full-time  performance into teaching has been a deeply rewarding process for Araiza—one that continues  to inspire and challenge her. She approaches her teaching with the same integrity, curiosity, and  drive that she brings to her own artistic work and looks forward to pouring into the next  generation of dancers.

In addition to her dance background, Araiza is a certified yoga instructor and fitness teacher,  specializing in power vinyasa and strength-based movement. Her foundation in yoga and  functional training plays a significant role in the way she teaches today—emphasizing strength,  endurance, and injury prevention. She is passionate about developing dancers who are not only  expressive artists but also powerful, resilient movers—both mentally and physically. Her classes  prioritize body awareness, longevity, and confidence through a technically rigorous and  artistically supportive environment.

AVERY MOORE

Avery, a Houston native, brings her deep love for movement and belief in dance as a transformative power to her role as a company member with Houston Contemporary Dance Company (HCDC) and dance educator.
Her formal training began at The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas, and continued at The University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a BFA in Dance with a Minor in Business in 2020. During her academic career, Avery had the privilege of working with acclaimed choreographers such as Sidra Bell, Mario Zambrano, Rennie Harris, Manuel Vignouelle, Charles O. Anderson, Gesel Mason, and Madi Hicks.

Since joining HCDC in 2021, Avery has performed works by notable choreographers including Yue Yin, Keerati Jinkunwiphat, Brandon Coleman, Norbert De La Cruz III, Peter Chu, Joe Celej, Robbie Moore, Andrea Dawn Shelley, and Kia Smith, among others. Avery also worked with ISHIDA Dance under the direction of Brett Ishida in 2021.
